SEATTLE — The Seattle Department of Construction & Inspections has pushed the adoption date of its construction codes update from July 1 to Nov. 1 due to several factors, including the impacts of COVID-19.
SDCI updates the city's construction codes every three years to address new technologies and include lessons learned from real-life performance of structures.
Code changes can come from the International Code Council, the state, members of the public and city staff. They are reviewed by SDCI staff and the Seattle Construction Codes Advisory Board.
