Feds OK $47.5M to build new Alaska airport, repair 2

  • The new airport will include a main runway, taxiway, apron, two equipment storage buildings, an access road and supporting utility infrastructure.
  • ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — The U.S. Department of Transportation has approved funding of about $47.5 million to build a new Alaska airport and refurbish two existing state airports.

    The Newtok Airport, the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and the Kenai Municipal Airport will receive funding for the projects, Alaska's News Source reported Thursday.
