3 shortlisted for mental hospital

OLYMPIA — The state Department of Enterprise Services has shortlisted the number of firms seeking to build a new forensic mental health care facility at Western State Hospital in Lakewood. The project has a maximum allowable construction cost of $408 million and is using the general contractor/construction manager procurement process.

The shortlisted firms are: Hensel Phelps; Clark Construction Group LLC; and Hoffman Construction Co. The winning firm will be notified on Aug. 25. Construction is scheduled to start in March 2024 and finish in October 2026. The project will be about 560,000 square feet with 350 beds.
