Skanska in catbird seat for $1.4B highway job

The new bridge will actually be two side-by-side structures.

The state Department of Transportation will likely award a massive project to Skanska USA Civil West that will replace the aging Portage Bay Bridge that carries state Route 520 from the Montlake interchange to Interstate 5. Skanska's design-build proposal is listed at $1.37 billion, and WSDOT determined that it was the apparent best value.
