Amazon building wind farm in Ohio

SEATTLE — Amazon has contracted with EDP Renewables to build and operate a 100-megawatt wind farm in Ohio.

The system is expected to start producing power in May 2017 for data centers operated by Amazon Web Services.

Amazon Web Services' long-term goal is to use 100 percent renewable power for its operations. It is now at 25 percent and expected to reach 40 percent by the end of 2016.

The Ohio project is Amazon's fourth major renewable energy project this year.
