Check trees for invasive insects

OLYMPIA — The Washington Department of Natural Resources is asking people to check trees in their communities for invasive insects during August, which is when wood-boring insects can be most often spotted outside of trees.

Invasive species do not have natural predators or diseases to keep their growth in check so they can have a big impact on forests and the timber industry. The damage they cause also increases fire risk.
