$96.8M for county to reduce overflows

SEATTLE — King County is set to receive a $96.8 million loan from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to help reduce sewer overflows from reaching the Puget Sound and the Lake Washington Ship Canal.

The EPA announced the funds yesterday as part of the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA), which was passed in 2014 to provide credit assistance for water infrastructure projects.
