Foundation awards $1M for elk habitat

MISSOULA, Mont. — The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and partners have allocated $1,064,039 in grant funding to ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance elk wildlife habitat across Washington state.

The grants will support 14 projects across 13 counties and four statewide projects. They include invasive weed treatment in the Blue Mountains, elk habitat in the South Fork Skokomish River watershed, and several mentored hunting opportunities. Several of the projects also restore landscapes charred by wildfire.
