In Spokane, Stantec hired Jack Butler as survey manager and associate. He has over 30 years of experience, including nearly 25 in the Northwest. That includes overseeing a staff of 23; serving on the Lake County, Ore., planning commission; and authoring articles for Professional Surveyor Magazine. Stantec provides planning, engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, project management and project economics.

Steinburg is a senior project manager in the high-rise design studio. In Seattle, he worked on Cirrus and Premiere on Pine, and is working on 970 Denny. Harrell is the firm's director of sustainability. He is managing a sustainable office building in Fremont where Tableau Software will lease space. Weber Thompson provides architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and community/urban design.

He has experience on commercial, educational and institutional projects in Bellevue, including the Hyatt Hotel and Lincoln Square. MZA works on mixed-use, office, retail, hospitality, culture and urban planning projects.

In its Seattle office, MG2 promoted Myra Vaughn and David Russell to principal, and Wendy Unzelman to director of accounting. It hired Mark Taylor as an associate principal and Christian Jochman as a senior associate. Vaughn joined the firm in 2012, and was recognized by the ICSC as an emerging leader in the 2013 “20 Under 40” awards. She will continue to develop relationships with retailers. Russell has been with MG2 for five years. He has experience in retail, mixed-use and hospitality markets. Unzelman has been controller for seven years and will now play a more prominent role supporting leadership and project teams as well as assisting the COO in finance and accounting. Taylor will work in the commercial studio. He has spent 20 years working on retail-focused mixed-use and providing design leadership on projects, including internationally. Jochman will work in the retail studio. He has over 18 years of experience, including on department, jewelry and toy store projects around the world. MG2 provides architectural services, planning, interior design, brand strategy and consulting services, with offices also in Irvine, Washington, D.C., and Shanghai.

FSi consulting engineers promoted Kevin Chadwick to principal. Chadwick is a mechanical engineer with experience on industrial buildings and functions. He led design of a robotic spray-coating facility for aircraft wings in Everett, and is leading mechanical design for a new 250,000-square-foot aircraft paint facility in South Carolina. Seattle-based FSi provides mechanical engineering.

AAA Washington, a provider of emergency roadside assistance, named Harry Thomas vice president and chief marketing officer to lead the creative, web, public relations, social media, publication and discount teams. Thomas worked for T-Mobile as director of product marketing.

Strategies 360

Strategies 360 in Seattle hired Robert Dillon as senior vice president. An expert on energy policy and politics, Dillon was senior advisor to U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski and communications director of the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. He will focus on government relations, crisis management, media relations, and writing about energy issues and other policy areas. The firm has offices in 10 western states and the District of Columbia.

Bill Baldwin, one of the founding partners of The Partners Group in Seattle, was named Agent of the Year by the Independent Agents & Brokers of King County. He has worked in the insurance industry for 51 years. He was president of Washington Policy Center, founder of Insurance Associates, and served as adjunct faculty in M.B.A. programs and Legal Seminars International.

City of Seattle

Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes has appointed Kelly L. Harris as the new criminal division chief, succeeding Craig Sims, who left CAO in December for private practice. Harris is a 22-year prosecutor, starting in 1994 as a deputy prosecuting attorney in King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. In 2002, he joined the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Washington and in 2009 joined the U.S. Department of Justice's National Security Division as a trial attorney in the counterterrorism section. He starts March 9.

The Seattle office of Andersen Construction promoted Craig Holt to project executive; and hired William Maibusch as project executive, Luis Martinez as senior project manager, Michelle Bungay and Tyson Byers as project managers, Patrick Kirby as estimator in the Special Projects Division, and Spencer Buescher as project engineer. Holt has more than 30 years of construction experience, specializing in healthcare projects. Maibusch, CCM, LEED AP, has 35 years of construction experience with healthcare, industrial, educational and office projects. Martinez, LCCP, has 16 years of industry experience and is an advocate of the lean construction process. Bungay is a 16-year construction veteran, with past roles as Special Projects Division operations manager and purchasing manager. Byers, LEED GA, has been working in construction for eight years. Kirby, CPE, has more than 20 years of industry experience. Buescher recently earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Washington State University.

Saybr specializes in building construction, site development, fuel system services and remediation systems.

AGC of America

The Associated General Contractors of America named the Oregon State University AGC chapter as the second best collegiate construction association in the country. The OSU chapter was cited for its workforce development programs and service: it created the first high school AGC student chapter in the nation at ACE Academy in Portland. Iowa State University was named the top student chapter and California State University Chico was third.
