In Seattle, Walsh Construction Co. promoted Whitney Lake and Jens Perrin to estimators; Blake Flury and Jeromy Wood to assistant superintendents; Adam Dempsey to field operations coordinator; Justin Nieto to concrete trade superintendent; Fik Mulugeta and Marie Delano to project engineers II; Angella Hould to project manager; and Ahmed Zahid to lead IT technician. Lake started at Walsh in 2008 as a summer intern and rejoined the company in 2012 as a project engineer. Perrin joined Walsh in 2015 as a project engineer. Flury was a summer intern at Walsh in 2012, began full-time in 2013 as a project engineer and was promoted in 2014 to field operations coordinator. Wood began his career at RDF Builders in 2006 as a journeyman carpenter, and was promoted to crew leader in 2009 and foreman in 2013. Dempsey started at Walsh in 2014 as a project engineer. Nieto started his career at RDF Builders in 2002 as a journeyman carpenter, and was promoted to crew leader in 2003 and foreman in 2006. Mulugeta started at the company in 2013 as a project engineer. Delano began her career at Walsh in 2009 as a project administrator and was promoted to project engineer in 2012. Hould has been with the company since 2009, initially as a project engineer. Zahid joined Walsh in 2014 as an IT support technician.

Novinium

Horvat

In Kent, Novinium hired Branko Horvat as director of new product development. Horvat holds an MBA and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He spent the past 25 years in sales, marketing and engineering of mobile hydraulic equipment. Novinium is a supplier of underground electrical cable rejuvenation products.





Tensar International

Rabin

Tensar International promoted Jordan Rabin to regional sales manager in the Pacific Northwest. Rabin previously was channel manager and technical sales representative in Southern California for Dow Chemical. He holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University. Atlanta-based Tensar makes geogrids and geopiers for ground stabilization and pavement and soil reinforcement.

G&W Commercial Interiors

Lynx Equity acquired Seattle-based G&W Commercial Interiors, a provider of commercial flooring and related services across the Pacific Northwest. G&W Vice President Steve Woodman became president post-sale, and will remain with the company for the foreseeable future. Toronto-based Lynx is a private equity firm focused on buying small and medium-sized businesses from owners looking to retire.

Downtown Seattle Association

The Downtown Seattle Association gave Amazon its 2017 City Maker award for helping people in need through FareStart and Mary's Place, and for its contributions to making downtown Seattle vibrant. DSA President & CEO Jon Scholes said, “There are many entities worthy of this recognition in downtown, but it's hard to imagine anyone more deserving this year.” FareStart has started an apprenticeship program at five eateries in an Amazon building, and Mary's Place will open a 47,000-square-foot transitional shelter in an Amazon building.

City of Tacoma

Tacoma City Manager Elizabeth Pauli said the city has named Budget Director Tadd Wille its new assistant city manager. The Neighborhood and Community Services Department will continue to be led by Linda Stewart. Those jobs were formerly one position. Wille will continue to be responsible for Tacoma's biennial operating and capital budget as his new job is refined.

Perkins Coie

Seattle-based law firm Perkins Coie hired Jason M. Quintana as a partner in its Mergers & Acquisitions practice in Chicago. He joins from Boeing, where he was senior counsel for M&A.

Olympic Sculpture Park

SAM's Olympic Sculpture Park has partnered with Ventures, a Seattle-based nonprofit, to bring an emerging entrepreneur to the cafe in the park's Paccar Pavilion at Broad and Western. La Panaderia, a bakery and food cart owned and operated by brother and sister team Oscar Fernandez and Felicitas Flores will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Labor Day. Ventures helps entrepreneurs with training, finance and marketing.

G&W Commercial Interiors

Toronto-based Lynx Equity has acquired Seattle-based G&W Commercial Interiors, a provider of commercial flooring and related services in the Northwest. G&W Vice President Steve Woodman will be president after the sale. In 2014, Lynx Equity acquired Portland's Floor Solutions, a distributor of commercial flooring in Oregon and Washington, and continues to pursue other acquisitions. G&W also provides painting, infection control, furniture moving, project management and other services.
