Beth Chandler, marketing director, and Jacob Besagno, ODS business development manager, are new partners at Hermanson Co. Chandler is a 33-year veteran of the AEC industry, including 19 at Hermanson where she helped convert from a primarily plan-and-specification bid sales process to a proposal/interview, negotiated design-build and design-assist process. She holds a bachelor's degree from Eastern Washington University. Besagno helped the company build its Owner Direct Solutions (ODS) division, which includes preventative maintenance/service, energy services, owner-direct construction, test-and-balance and chiller maintenance. He holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from Seattle University, and is a former Seattle Sounders soccer player.

Andersen Tax

Andersen Tax named Dave Anderton a managing director in the Commercial Practice group. He will be providing federal tax advisory, compliance, and provision services to clients primarily in Portland. Prior to joining Andersen Tax, he worked at EY.

Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union

Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union opened a new Burien location at 14901 Fourth Ave. S.W., Suite 107, with a new design and enhanced services. It now has nine branches in the Puget Sound region.

Trico Companies hired Art Solbakken as senior project manager, Monica Pavlovich as accounting manager, Marilou Finberg-Sloan as accountant, AJ Steen as project engineer and Sarah Kircher as office assistant. Solbakken has worked for general contractors on the West Coast. He has represented owners on projects in the Seattle area and Eastern Washington, and helped develop a master-planned resort. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Washington. Pavlovich is a CPA, and has worked in private sector and public accounting while maintaining an emphasis in construction. She holds a bachelor's degree in business from California State University Monterey Bay. Finberg-Sloan has worked with various construction companies over 20 years, and holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from City University. Steen has spent the past two years in construction management, and holds a bachelor's degree in project management from ITT Technical Institute. Kircher has held several administrative support roles. She holds an associate's degree from Whatcom Community College, and has firefighter and EMT certifications.

City of Fife

Kim

Hyun Kim was appointed city manager of Fife by the Fife City Council, beginning Sept. 13. Current City Manager Subir Mukerjee is set to retire Sept. 12. Kim was finance director for Boulder City, Nevada, and town administrator for Afton, Wyoming. His career began in 2012 as community development director for Pinedale, Wyoming.





Horizon Air

Horizon Air's board of directors have elected Captain John Hornibrook vice president of flight operations and Brooke Vatheuer vice president of finance and planning. Hornibrook will oversee 700 line pilots and the system operations center. He is a 26-year Alaska Airlines pilot and was managing director of flight operations at Virgin America, overseeing integration efforts with Alaska. Vatheuer was managing director at Alaska, overseeing internal audit and enterprise risk management for both Alaska and Horizon.

Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals

Circuit Judge Richard C. Tallman of Seattle will step down as an active judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on March 3, 2018, his 65th birthday, after almost 18 years of service to the court. Tallman will continue to serve as a senior judge. He also serves on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review, which hears appeals related to espionage and counterterrorism investigations, with a term that ends in January 2021.

Washington Student Achievement

The Washington Student Achievement Council added two new members. Jan Yoshiwara is the representative for the public community and technical colleges, and Peder Digre begins a one-year appointment as the student member.

KING5 TV

The Washington Coalition for Open Government will honor KING5 TV investigative reporter Susannah Frame with the Third Annual Kenneth F. Bunting Award in recognition of her work using the state's Public Records Act in investigations.

Wolff joins Pacific Century Holdings

Pacific Century Holdings named Steve Wolff chief acquisitions officer for its initial $50 million real estate investment fund for the cannabis industry. PCH is led by Tony Repanich, formerly of Peoples Bank, and broker Justin Braune. They launched the PCH 1 fund in June. Wolff comes from Dallas, where he was with NAI Robert Lynn and Stan Johnson Co.





AIA walking tour of the CD

AIA Seattle and its affiliated website The Urbanist are conducting a walking tour of the Central District. Co-leading the tour will be architect Donald King of Mimar Studio, architect Jeffrey Floor of LMN Architects and Wyking Garrett of Africatown, who has played a leading role in the redevelopment plans for MidTown Center, which will be one stop on the tour. Other sites will be Vulcan Real Estate's Red Apple site at 23rd and Jackson, and Capitol Hill Housing's new Liberty Bank Building at 23rd and Union. The tour starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Washington Middle School, 2101 S. Jackson St. Suggested donation is $10. RSVP at aiaseattle.org.

Berkadia brokers $61M deal

Berkadia Real Estate Advisors said it has brokered the sale of the 58-acre Carroll's Creek Landing, in Marysville, on behalf of original developer Gateway Trident LLC. The transaction was worth about $60.7 million. The buyer was JRK Property Holdings of Los Angeles. Berkadia's team was led by Kenny Dudunakis, David Sorensen and Ben Johnson. Developed in 2002 as Navy housing by Gateway Development Group, Carroll's Creek has 288 townhouse-style units with up to four bedrooms. JRK has 32,000 units nationwide, including The Boulders at Puget Sound, in Tacoma.

Dow upgrades Chicago hotel

Dow Hotel Co. of Seattle said it completed a $10 million renovation of Embassy Suites O'Hare Rosemont near the Chicago airport, including guest rooms, public spaces and back-of-house areas. The eight-story hotel has 294 rooms, an atrium, pool, fitness center, and 18,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The 5,100-square-foot ballroom accommodates up to 350 guests.

Andover adds to industrial team

The Andover Co. hired Shane Mahvi, a recent Seattle University grad. He joins the industrial property leasing and sales team.

REEL networking starts Aug. 24

A new networking series for the under-35 crowd called REEL (for Real Estate Emerging Leaders) will debut on Sellen Construction's roof top deck, at 227 Westlake Ave. N. Members of CoreNet, CREW, NAIOP, AGC, BOMA, ULI and SMPS Seattle are expected to attend. The shindig starts at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24. Event proceeds go to the arts nonprofit UrbanArtWorks. In September is a NAIOP-only gathering at Katerra, 542 First Ave. S. RSVP for both at naiopwa.org. Also ahead on the NAIOP calendar is the annual Night of the Stars gala, which is set for Nov. 3 at Hyatt Regency Bellevue.
