In Seattle, Gustafson Guthrie Nichol promoted Bryn Kepler to associate and David Malda to principal. Also Madeleine Aronson and Ekin Arin joined the firm as design interns in Seattle and Washington, D.C., respectively. Kepler is working on the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle. Malda's work includes the winning proposal for the Union Square National Mall competition in Washington, D.C. Aronson has a background in cultural anthropology and multimedia art. She is pursuing a master in landscape architecture at Harvard Graduate School of Design. Arin holds a bachelor's in architecture from the University of Virginia. GGN is a Seattle-based landscape architecture firm.

David Hipp, an associate principal of Spokane-based Bernardo|Wills Architects, earned the Designated Design-Build Professional certification from the Design-Build Institute of America. The firm provides architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and master planning.

Seattle-based Hainline hired Yong Lee Dunbar as director of K-12 construction services and Jim Beaver as marketing coordinator. Dunbar was a project manager at K-12 design firms. Beaver has over 10 years of A/E/C marketing experience. He will help expand the construction services reach and promote Hainline, which provides project management, construction management, scheduling and project controls services.

Portland-based FFA Architecture and Interiors promoted Joe Zody, Richard Grace and Ian Gelbrich to associate partner, Brenda Katz and Edward Running to senior associate and Laura Roark and Christine Rumi to associate. Zody was hired in 2013 after owning a firm in the Midwest for 15 years. He leads multifamily and senior living projects. Grace returned to FFA in 2015. He leads workplace, retail and planning projects. Gelbrich was hired in 2015 and works on libraries and municipal facilities. Katz was hired 12 years ago. She works on commercial, workplace, public and higher education projects. Running was hired in 2016. He works on multifamily, resort and recreation, and workplace projects. His work includes rehab of Western Oregon University's Natural Sciences Building. Roark was hired in 2006, and has managed school and commercial projects. She is managing the expansion of Beaverton School District's transportation and maintenance facility. Rumi was hired in 2015, has worked on higher education and public projects, and is managing renovation of SmartPark's 10th and Yamhill parking garage and retail shops. FFA provides architecture, planning and interior design.

Kent-based Hermanson Co. promoted Steve Otis to VDC supervisor to manage and lead its BIM, MEP and detailing services. The engineer has worked for mechanical contractors on new construction and renovation projects. Hermanson provides mechanical construction, design-build engineering and service/maintenance.

Laura Maman has become a partner in Seattle-based Miller Hayashi Architects. Maman, a principal, has been with the firm for 10 years and represents it on the UW Integrated Design Lab's advisory board and the UW Department of Architecture professional advisory council.

Marten Law

Marten Law said Sarah Dennison-Leonard has joined the firm as a partner in Portland. Her practice focuses on complex commercial and regulatory transactions, particularly related to energy. Sarah Peterson joins the firm as an associate in San Francisco. Her practice focuses on litigation, permitting and counseling on environmental, energy, natural resources, land use and product law.

SportsArt

SportsArt has promoted Ivo Grossi from executive vice president to CEO of the Americas. Ivo has domestic and international executive experience in the fitness, health and wellness industry, including at Technogym, Peak Pilates and Sensoria Fitness. SportsArt's new line of cardio equipment will include a treadmill that harvests energy generated by users and feeds it into the grid.
