AHBL promoted structural engineers Drew McEachern and Ken Leland, and landscape architect Jason Morse to principal, and civil engineers David Nason, Bill Fierst and Erick Fitzpatrick to associate principal. McEachern joined the firm 20 years ago. His projects include the Advanced Technology Center at Bates Technical College. Leland has been with AHBL for 20 years, with work that includes Roosevelt Way Apartments in Seattle. Morse has 21 years of experience. He was promoted to director of landscape architecture in 2014, and has led the department through a period of unprecedented growth, with work that includes Centennial Garden at the Washington Park Arboretum. Nason spent the past 11 years of his 20-year career as a civil project manager in the Tacoma office. He is working on Birney Elementary for Tacoma Public Schools. Fierst has spent his 18-year career at AHBL working on education, federal and commercial projects. His work includes the 6th and Alder mixed-use project in Tacoma. Fitzpatrick joined AHBL in 2012. He has 12 years of experience and oversees civil engineering in the Spokane and Tri-Cities offices. He has worked on Liberty Lake Road for the city of Liberty Lake. AHBL provides civil and structural engineering, landscape architecture, community planning and land surveying.

Art Anderson Associates

Farmer

Art Anderson Associates hired Madilynn Farmer as a drafter. Farmer will work in the marine and facility divisions, and assist in drafting related work. Art Anderson is a Bremerton-based multidisciplinary engineering services firm.

DKS

Chandler

In Seattle, DKS hired Brian Chandler as director of transportation safety. The civil engineer and traffic operations engineer will expand transportation safety services. He has developed Strategic Highway Safety Plans in Connecticut, Maryland and Missouri, and led data analysis of the Clackamas County TSAP. DKS provides transportation planning, design and engineering services.

Stantec

Sadaba

Sergio Sadaba joined Stantec as principal leading the buildings performance group in Seattle. Sadaba has over 20 years of experience designing high performance building systems. The engineer has worked on high-rise, commercial, retail, hospitality, residential, industrial, health care and railways projects, including Pertamina Energy Tower Campus in Jakarta. Stantec provides engineering and design services for buildings, transportation, water, waterpower and dams, and environmental services projects.

Zednick

Cox

Jorden Cox, Carson Zednick and Tyler Buys joined Kirkland-based Dibble Engineers as design engineers. Cox has two years of residential and light commercial design experience. He has worked for CG Engineering, Jay Dee Contractors and WSDOT. Zednick has over three years of experience in structural engineering for residential, civil/site and commercial structures. He has worked at Sound Structural Solutions and Max J. Kuney Construction. Buys has over five years of structural engineering design experience. He was an engineer at A.V. Schwan and Associates, and Salmons P.C.

Lundberg

Stanek

BergerABAM hired Michael Stanek as a senior project engineer and Eli Lundberg as a project manager in Federal Way, and Hai Dang as a project manager in San Diego. Stanek has over 12 years of civil engineering experience in the aviation and transportation industries. He recently did a feasibility study for a hangar in Renton. Lundberg has over 10 years of experience in civil engineering. He specializes in structural engineering and engineering services during construction, and has worked on marine, flood protection, navigation and hydraulic structures. Dang has over 15 years of civil engineering experience, including with the Coast Guard. He will be program manager for a contract with the Department of Homeland Security. BergerABAM provides civil and structural engineering, architecture, land use planning, natural resources, public involvement, landscape architecture, construction management and support, and underwater inspection services.

Seattle Housing Authority

Robert Crutchfield, Paul Purcell and Gerald Smiley were appointed to Seattle Housing Authority's board of commissioners. The board oversees policies, budget and the executive director, Andrew Lofton. Crutchfield is professor emeritus of sociology at the University of Washington. Purcell was president and founder of Beacon Development Group, where he oversaw development of nearly 5,000 affordable housing units. Smiley is an organizer at Laborers' Local 242, and serves on the board of a nonprofit that develops workforce housing. Each will serve for four years.

Visit Seattle

Visit Seattle partnered with WeChat, a Chinese instant messaging app, to launch CityExperience Mini Program for Chinese visitors to Seattle. The program is a guide to attractions, hotels and tours, in written and audible Mandarin. Last year, nearly 200,000 Chinese visitors stayed in Seattle. Visit Seattle is a nonprofit marketing organization.

Operation Warm

Operation Warm, a Pennsylvania-based nonprofit providing new coats to kids in need, has opened a one-person office in Seattle. The organization has done events in the Seattle area and recently launched a “volunteer brigade” to hand out jackets nationwide. More information is at http://www.operationwarm.org/volunteer.
