FSi Engineers

Roush

Jarvegren

Seattle-based FSi Engineers promoted associates Ola Jarvegren and Ben Roush to principal. Jarvegren was hired in 2012 and works in the Seattle office. He has done projects for hospitals, universities, schools and public works, and has advocated for making FSi's standard specs as green as possible. His work includes Colman Dock, which integrates the use of natural air and light into its systems. Roush was hired in 2008. He runs the Baltimore office, which he opened using his business development skills to create a new market for FSi. He also provides training to the firm's engineers. FSi provides mechanical and fire protection engineering services.

Kleinfelder

Christie

In Seattle, Kleinfelder hired Sam Christie as principal professional/senior project manager. Christie provides geotechnical project management and technical leadership for infrastructure projects. He has over 15 years of experience, including overseas, and specializes in geotechnical and earthquake engineering. He has contributed to projects involving ground improvement design for port and marine structures, shoring design for high-rise excavations, foundation design for cable-stayed and suspension bridges, seismic analysis and foundation design for immersed tunnels, and wind turbine foundation design and remediation. Kleinfelder is an engineering, construction management, design and environmental professional services firm.

Lund Opsahl

Peterson

Seattle-based structural and seismic engineering firm Lund Opsahl hired engineer-in-training Garrett Peterson. Peterson interned with the firm and has a bachelor's in architectural engineering from California Polytechnic State University. His work covers a variety of markets and includes memory-care facilities, the 190-unit Alexan Central Park apartments in Redmond, and a maintenance and operations facility renovation for Olympia-based Intercity Transit.

HNTB Corp.

Proia

Kimberly Proia joined HNTB Corp. as a project director and vice president based in Bellevue. She will be deputy project manager for the West Seattle and Ballard Link light rail extensions. Proia has nearly 25 years of experience in rail transit, with a background in program management, preliminary engineering, final design and environmental impact statements. Previously, she was project manager for design services of the $1.86 billion Green Line Extension program in Minnesota. HNTB is an infrastructure firm.

David Evans and Associates

Laird

In Bellevue, Greg Laird joined David Evans and Associates to lead its Puget Sound region water resources group. Laird has over 30 years of experience as a project manager and water resources engineer specializing in publicly funded projects, traditional design-bid-build construction, value engineering, constructability review and risk assessment. He has worked on projects for Sound Transit, WSDOT, ports and local and federal agencies. DEA provides design services for transportation, water, environmental, land, energy and marine infrastructure systems.

KBA

Arnold

In Bellevue, Cathy Arnold joined engineering firm KBA as a project manager after 40 years with the Washington State Department of Transportation, where she managed construction, design and contracting teams for infrastructure projects. Arnold was WSDOT's engineering manager for Snohomish and King counties and has experience in paving, highway, road, bridge, culvert and fish barrier removal projects, including the MLK-to-Ravenna pavement replacement, the state Route 530 incident debris removal, and SR 530 access road maintenance and traffic control projects. KBA specializes in construction management, project/program management and value-added specialty services.

Architects West

Marcusen

Architects West hired Nathan Marcusen as a landscape designer in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Marcusen has a bachelor's in horticulture from Brigham Young University-Idaho. He has a background in the identification and care of landscape plants for most zones in the U.S. and in computer-aided design and drafting. He is doing projects for Northwest Farm Credit Services in Salem, Oregon, and East Valley School District in Spokane Valley. He was with Environment West Landscape Services. Architects West provides architectural and landscape architectural/land planning services.

Theo Chocolate

Mark Rieland is the new CFO at Theo Chocolate in Seattle. Rieland was CFO and COO at Minneapolis-based Peace Coffee, where he helped transition the business to new ownership. Prior to that, he held various finance leadership roles at General Mills, Syngenta Seeds and Lenox Group.

Impinj

Seattle-based Impinj hired Cary Baker as CFO, effective Feb. 17. Baker is CFO and treasurer at RealNetworks. Prior to that, he was CFO at Heat Software, CFO at NetMotion Software and vice president of finance at Clearwire. Impinj also announced that Linda Breard, the company's CFO consultant, will transition next month to a new role as strategic consultant to the CEO. Impinj provides radio frequency identification products.

Zeevo Group

In Seattle, Zeevo Group made changes to its executive leadership group, with principals Joey Johnsen and John McCartney leading company operations and co-founder Karen Curtis stepping down but remaining as an adviser. Zeevo is a business, finance and information technology consulting firm to companies in the aircraft leasing, technology and consumer products industries. Along with the leadership changes, the company said it added a new fund service that oversees a global investment portfolio.

Smartsheet

Bellevue-based Smartsheet opened an office in Sydney and hired Nigel Mendonca to lead it as vice president of the Asia Pacific region. Mendonca came from Tableau Software, where he spent five years as country manager for Australia and New Zealand. Smartsheet is a cloud-based platform for work execution with other offices in London and Edinburgh, Scotland.

Basics

Basics, a food market designed to help people cook more at home with fresh regional ingredients, next month will open a new store in Hillsdale, Oregon. The store is going into a 12,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by Food Front at 6344 S.W. Capitol Highway. Hillsdale will be Basics' fourth location. Additional stores in Beaverton and Portland's Pearl District are expected to open later this year. Basics is part of the Wild Rose Food Co.

Filkins

General contractor Lease Crutcher Lewis hired Matt Filkins as chief administrative officer; and promoted Mark Portin to the new role of director of field operations for Washington and Tina Sealey to safety director in Washington. Filkins has 24 years of finance, strategic planning and talent management experience, and owned a consulting business. Portin has been at Lewis for over 24 years, rising from carpenter to general superintendent. In his new position, he focuses on workforce development, diversity and projects in preconstruction. Sealey was safety manager and interim safety director. She joined the company in 2018 and is a five-year safety professional.

ACI Mechanical & HVAC Sales

Glasch

Keith Glasch is the new principal and president of ACI Mechanical & HVAC Sales. Glasch has 31 years of commercial HVAC experience, most recently as president of Ruskin in Missouri. He also worked at Johnson Controls, Titus, Daikin and Carrier. He succeeds company co-founder Jim Sinclair, who is now board chair and remains as an adviser. ACI has offices in Seattle, Portland and Spokane.

MBA of King and Snohomish Counties

The Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties has new board officers for 2020: Brian Holtzclaw, president; Todd Levitt of Murray Franklyn Family of Companies, first vice president; Cameron McKinnon of Gamut360 Holdings, second vice president; Luellen Smith of Rhino Wine Cellars & Cooling Systems, secretary; and Bonnie Geers of Quadrant Homes, immediate past president. Holtzclaw is a land use and real estate development lawyer serving as in-house counsel for Village Life, a community development firm. He also is mayor pro tem for the city of Mill Creek.
