KM hires Cha

Cha

Kidder Mathews has hired John Cha as director of research, the company announced. He makes the move from Direct Access Capital. The 15-year industry veteran will be based in KM's Seattle office.

Bordeaux Wealth Advisors

Snare

Menlo Park, California-based Bordeaux Wealth Advisors named Jon Snare as managing partner of its newly opened Bellevue office. Snare has nearly 30 years of financial advisory experience, lastly as senior investment strategist at Wells Fargo Private Bank. Bordeaux is a boutique investment advisory and wealth management firm. It opened the Bellevue office and expanded its senior leadership in a strategic growth initiative.

Boeing

Chicago-based Boeing received a $1.5 billion contract from the U.S. Navy for 18 Poseidon aircraft, which are made in Renton. The contract includes eight of the P-8A models for the U.S. Navy, six for the Republic of Korea Navy and four for the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Poseidon is the military version of the 737 Next-Generation airplane.

Cropland Audits

Los Gatos, California-based Procurant Partners formed a partnership with Cropland Audits, an Idaho-based food safety consultant to the agriculture industry. Under the partnership, Cropland Audits becomes a reseller of Procurant's SureCheck, a food safety and task management app that provides growers and shippers with checklists, documented procedures and food safety program support.

The Standard

Portland-based Standard Insurance Co. (The Standard) is contributing $250,000 to the Oregon Community Recovery Fund in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Standard is donating the funds through its charitable foundation. The recovery fund is run by Oregon Community Foundation and fills gaps in funding not covered by the public or private sectors. During the outbreak, it is targeting child care, small businesses, seniors and education.

Skally joins JLL

JLL announced the recent hiring of Matt Skally, who'll become senior VP of project and development services in Seattle and Portland. He makes the move from Nordstrom, where he oversaw store design. JLL's Jacqueline Dompe said in a statement, “Matt brings a high level of energy and progressive thinking to our business. His passion and experience enable him to be laser focused on supporting the ambitions of our teams and clients.”

Davis promotes Rowe

Davis Property & Investment has elevated its Lisa Rowe to asset manager. In her new capacity she'll oversee about 5 million square feet of industrial space extending from Seattle to Portland. The industry veteran will also continue with leasing and communications for the company, which she joined two years ago.

Architecture and engineering design firm Cushing Terrell appointed Greg Matthews as president and CEO to replace outgoing president Scott Wilson, who will remain with the firm and continue serving on the board. Matthews will lead the continued growth of the firm, which includes 13 offices and a portfolio of commercial, education, government, health care, infrastructure, residential and retail projects. He has been with the firm for 24 years. Also, Jim Armer, a 14-year Cushing Terrell employee and formerly co-lead of the retail design studio, will fill a newly created chief knowledge officer position to oversee distribution and retention of intellectual capital, facilitate equity and professional growth and support learning for team members. Cushing Terrell has offices in Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Montana, Texas and Washington.

Tacoma-based Middle of Six, a marketing consultancy specializing in construction, architecture and engineering, hired Melissa English as principal marketing strategist to do proposal development and interview coaching; brand strategy and management; and public relations. She has 20 years of marketing experience, most recently at multidisciplinary engineering firm AHBL, leading marketing and business development as marketing director.

Floren has over 11 years of electrical design experience with technically complex telecommunication and data center projects. Salas O'Brien is an employee-owned multidisciplinary design firm with 31 offices nationwide.

WSP USA engineering and professional services consultancy named Greg Banks bridge and structures manager for the Pacific Northwest District. Banks will secure and deliver structural engineering work for transportation projects in Oregon, Washington, Hawaii and Alaska. He will lead major bridge projects and manage, grow and develop the structures team in the district. He was hired in 2004 and has nearly two decades of engineering experience, with specialties in major bridge design, project development and construction support for conventional and alternative delivery projects.

In Seattle, KMD Architects hired Tony Paul and Wen Wu as project architects, Chris Buchanan as a production manager, Hannah Morrow as an interior designer and Laura Salmela as a job captain. Paul has a background in health care and residential design. Wu was formerly with Neiman Taber Architects and BAM in New York. Buchanan was previously with SABArchitects and has 11 years of experience. Morrow was with B+H Architects. Salmela has a master's in architecture from North Dakota University. Her thesis project focused on social impact design while implementing vernacular and environmentally friendly building technologies.

KMD is primarily a health care design firm, with current projects including the Lummi Nation Health and Wellness Center in Bellingham and MultiCare Allenmore Hospital's emergency department expansion and remodel. The firm also designed the 17-story Koda Condominium Flats Tower now underway in Seattle's Chinatown-International District.

HNTB Corp.

Tim Horton joined HNTB Corp. as senior project engineer for transportation in the Bellevue office. Horton will work with agencies and provide technical expertise on projects and manage engineering teams. His work will include transportation design, project management and oversight of design-build activities. He has over 15 years of experience in the transportation industry. At a previous firm, he developed a transit line of business. He also was involved in the first diverging diamond interchange in Washington. HNTB is an infrastructure firm.

Seattle-based Johnston Architects promoted Jasmyn Bennett to marketing specialist and hired Elly Krutz as an interior designer and John B. Simons as a project architect. Bennett was an office assistant. She has a bachelor's in apparel product development from the University of Idaho. She does social media management, website updates, proposal development and supports marketing and business development.

Krutz has nine years of experience at Seattle design firms leading hospitality, fine dining and residential projects, and 3D modeling experience and technical skills in digital presentation and renderings. She is designing interiors for boutique condo projects in Queen Anne and Capitol Hill, a 54-unit residential mixed-use project in Crown Hill and for the new Lake Wilderness Golf Course Clubhouse in Maple Valley. Simons has seven years of experience as an architect, which includes residential, commercial office, hospitality and master planning projects in New York City and Asia. He is working on the Crown Hill project and conceptual design and master planning of a Sedro-Woolley community with retail, multifamily, office and hotel buildings. Johnston Architects provides architecture, interior design and planning.

OneEnergy Renewables

Tobin Booth is the new CEO of OneEnergy Renewables, a Seattle-based developer of solar projects. Booth was CEO of Seattle-based Stokes Vannoy, which invests in operating solar projects. Prior to that, he founded and was CEO of Blue Oak Energy, a solar engineering and construction firm in California. After Coronal Energy and Panasonic bought Blue Oak, he was Coronal's chief engineering officer. Booth succeeds OneEnergy co-founder Bill Eddie, who continues as chief commercial officer to focus on business and partnership development.

Avalara

In Seattle, business tax software developer Avalara appointed Brian Sharples to its board. Sharples is co-founder and former CEO of HomeAway, an online marketplace for vacation rentals. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of IntelliQuest Information Group, a supplier of marketing data and research to large technology companies. Avalara also announced that Justin Sadrian, a managing director at Warburg Pincus, will leave the board when his term ends in June.

Maven Media Brands

Seattle-based Maven Media Brands said it is cutting 9% of its workforce and its senior managers are taking 30% pay cuts in response to the weakening economy in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. The company also is working to trim non-payroll expenses and has secured a $12 million line of credit from B. Riley Financial. Maven is a group media network platform.

Pyramid Analytics

Business intelligence platform developer Pyramid Analytics closed a $25 million funding round led by Jerusalem Venture Partners. The money will fund Pyramid's continuing growth. Sequoia Capital, Viola Growth and Maor Investments also participated in the funding round. Pyramid is based in Amsterdam and its U.S. headquarters is in Seattle. Pyramid enables large companies to analyze data in a modular, easy and fast way.
