Lane Powell elected four new shareholders in its Seattle office: Jamie Lanier, Shirley Lou-Magnuson, Greg Pyle and Jimmy Zack. Lanier focuses her practice on estate planning, probate and trust administration for high net worth individuals and families. She also works with fiduciaries and beneficiaries regarding non-judicial resolution of trust and estate disputes. She serves on the Seattle Foundation's Professional Advisors Council, and is included in Best Lawyers' Ones to Watch list in the areas of Trusts and Estates and Nonprofit/Charities. Lou-Magnuson defends public and private entities from civil and regulatory liability in employment law matters. She regularly litigates on behalf of employers before federal and state courts, administrative bodies, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the state Human Rights Commission. Christine Visser is the local owner of the new Caring Transitions of Mill Creek franchise. The new franchise serves Mill Creek, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Bothell and the surrounding areas. Visser combines more than 25 years of professional experience at Northwest companies like Amazon, Costco, Boeing and Zillow with her experience in family service and estate planning. She is a Certified Relocation and Transitions Specialist. Caring Transitions, founded in 2006, has more than 200 locations throughout the U.S.
KBS Advisors recently announced that Kevin Skillestad has joined its Georgetown office after over 16 years with Neil Walter Co. His past clients include Tesla, Georgetown Brewing, Prologis, Terreno and CenterPoint.
Former city council member Sally Clark has joined the board of Seattle Housing Authority, the agency recently announced. She's a new appointee to fill an at-large slot on the now seven-person board. She left the council, after a decade of service, in 2015 to join the University of Washington; there she continues to serve as director of regional and community relations. Her new term as SHA board commissioner lasts four years.
Aegis Living has named Sandra Preyale as its new president. She's been promoted from her prior post as chief people officer. The senior housing developer and operator is led by founder Dwayne Clark, who said in a statement, “She is a brilliant strategic thinker and thought partner, and she will lead us confidently into Aegis' future as we open two new communities this year and continue to innovate our offerings to provide the highest standard of care in senior assisted living.” Before Aegis, she was with Amazon and Coach. Among other Aegis promotions announced at the same time, Lee Kaufmann becomes senior vice president of human resources; and Howard Jacobs becomes the company's new COO. The company is now under construction on Aegis Living Laurelhurst (pictured).
Learned Commercial, based up in Burlington, announced that it represented Hughes Fire Equipment as a new tenant in an industrial building at 1215 E. Hickox Road in Mount Vernon. Terms were not announced. The individual brokers were Jarrod Ball for the tenant, and John Mitzel of Windermere Commercial for the landlord, Hickox Road Industrial Leasing & Storage.

Environmental Science Associates (ESA), an environmental consulting, engineering, and planning firm, announced that Susan Cunningham will oversee the entire Northwest region in her new role as biological resources and land management business group director. Cunningham will be managing a team of 23 employee-owners across ESA's Seattle, Portland, and Bend offices. With a career spanning 31 years, Cunningham's natural resource, land use and regulatory compliance expertise spans multiple market sectors including water, aviation, energy, transportation, and natural resource management.
Serving as ESA's business group director in Oregon for the past six years, she has managed multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex infrastructure projects in the built and natural environments. Cunningham is skilled in preparing National Environmental Policy Act documents, biological assessments, permit application packages, and all types of natural resource assessments.
Cunningham's leadership has particularly focused on steering the complex land use and transportation infrastructure permitting challenges in Oregon and other jurisdictions. For example, as part of an 18-year contract with the city of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services, she secured permitting and approval to stabilize two main sewer lines crossing the Willamette River while navigating an EPA Superfund site and Endangered Species Act regulations for listed salmon protection.
In her new leadership role for the Pacific Northwest region, Cunningham will integrate the team of fisheries and wildlife biologists, wetland scientists, conservation planners and water quality specialists throughout Oregon and Washington. She will support the team's ongoing work in transportation and airports, conservation planning and restoration design largely focused on salmon recovery, and pursue more opportunities in the energy and water markets. Cunningham has been recognized outside of ESA for her contributions to her field, including being named the Consultant of the Year in 2020 by the Oregon Airport Management Association for her work preparing an environmental assessment that encompassed several capital improvement plan projects at the Rogue Valley-Medford International Airport. She is also an active member of the Women Transportation Seminar. Cunningham earned her bachelor of science in biology from the University of Oregon.
Seattle architecture firm Neiman Taber Architects (NTA) promoted Liz Pisciotta to partner and Anton Dekom to senior associate. Additionally, several design staff have been promoted to associate: Sari Ellis, Kyle Francis, Kyle Jenkins, Sharon Rubin and Patrick Taylor.
Pisciotta has worked with NTA for nine years and has led firm efforts in interior design, company culture and project management. She is currently working on the Littlefield Apartments annex project and recently designed the interiors and branding of the Freya and Karsti Apartments. Dekom has experience with a variety of project types including multifamily residential, commercial office, and sustainable infrastructure. He also co-led the effort to design and build the Mighty House, a prototype transitional shelter for people experiencing homelessness.
Ellis has experience in hospitality design, educational renovations and multifamily developments. She is currently project architect and Dekom is project manager on a new mixed-use development in the International District, as well as the Washington Irving Apartments Annex. Francis has experience in high-end single-family housing and commercial work. He is currently project architect on a new transit-oriented development near Cal Anderson Park. Jenkins specializes in design culture at NTA and also organizes professional development education. He is currently project manager on a 191-unit mixed-use development near Othello Station. Rubin has led community advocacy efforts to combat homelessness and also leads website development at NTA. Taylor's expertise lies in local land use and housing advocacy. Rubin is currently project architect and Taylor is project manager on a 271-unit mixed-use development near Othello Station.
P2S Inc. promoted Larry Swartz, principal, to vice president overseeing three engineering groups, and Brad Lentz to principal and group manager of the firm's Seattle office. The Seattle office includes over 40 staff members and provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing and commissioning services. In addition to his new role, Lentz also serves as federal market leader.
Celo Health, a provider of a HIPAA-compliant messaging platform for health care providers, announced the opening of its U.S. headquarters in Seattle and has named Jack Clough to head the operations. As chief growth officer at Celo, Clough will lead operational, sales and marketing activities. Prior to his new role, Clough held business development and sales roles at Celo, and previously worked in sales and marketing positions at collaborative technology companies. Celo Health's platform enables health care teams to collaborate securely on patient care.
Bellevue-based T-Mobile has acquired Octopus Interactive, a national network of interactive video screens inside Uber and Lyft vehicles. This move marks the next step for Marketing Solutions, T-Mobile's advertising technology business, in expanding its offerings for marketers. Octopus helps brands reach audiences through video ads presented on screens inside rideshare vehicles, and enables brands to execute comprehensive geo-targeted campaigns across a range of consumers. Beyond the rideshare network, this acquisition will connect Marketing Solutions with big brands like current Octopus clients Audible, Fox Entertainment and Philo.
The Tacoma City Council confirmed the recommendation of the Landmarks Preservation Commission to designate the Henry J. and Nettie Craig Asberry House a city landmark. Built in 1887, the house is a remaining example of the initial settlement of Tacoma's emerging Hilltop neighborhood, but its major significance comes from it being the longtime residence of Henry Joseph and Nettie Craig Jones Asberry from 1903 until 1966. The Asberrys were influential community advocates and iconic leaders in the Black community, both locally and regionally. They were founding members of the Tacoma Chapter of the NAACP and the Tacoma City Association of Colored Women's Clubs. The nomination was researched and submitted by Historic Tacoma, and is part of a broader effort to acquire, restore and preserve the residence. As part of the 2021-23 biennium budget, the state Legislature awarded the Tacoma City Association of Colored Women's Clubs an appropriation to acquire the historic home site for future renovation and public benefit. Forterra joined the association as a partner on the request. Plans are underway for assessing the condition of the house and developing a restoration plan.
