Seco Development is preparing to start construction this week on a 12-story hotel in Renton.
The four-star hotel is part of Seco's master plan for a 17.5-acre site called Southport. The hotel will have 350 rooms and 42,000 square feet of meeting space within a 337,000-square-foot complex. Other features will include a waterfront restaurant; bar and lounge; four roof terraces; indoor swimming pool, spa and gym; and spaces for weddings.
Groundbreaking is set for Wednesday, according to Seco's website. Representatives of Seco did not return a phone call Friday requesting comment.
MulvannyG2 Architecture is designing the hotel, and Sellen Construction Co. is the general contractor. Other team members are Coughlin Porter Lundeen, Berger Partnership and WSP Group.
Southport is on Lake Washington on a site where an old steam plant used to operate. In addition to the hotel, Southport will also have three office buildings totaling 778,000 square feet. Seco has already finished 383 apartments as part of the plan.
Southport is near The Landing in Renton, one of the largest shopping centers in the region, and the 55-acre Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park.
Renton-based Seco has done large projects in Bellevue, Kirkland and Mercer Island.
