SEATTLE — The Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board has nominated a Belltown property for landmark status where Wood Partners is considering a 124-unit residential project.
The board voted 6-0 Wednesday to nominate the Wayne Apartments at 2224 Second Ave. that dates from the late 1800s. On Oct. 7, the board will consider whether to designate it a landmark.
Atlanta-based Wood Partners has filed preliminary paperwork to build on three parcels adjacent to Mama's Mexican Kitchen.
Steve Yoon with Wood Partners could not be reached for comment Thursday.
NK Architects prepared the nomination application for Rain City Properties LLC, which owns the building.
Comments may be sent by Oct. 6 to the Historic Preservation Program, Seattle Municipal Tower, 700 Fifth Ave., Suite 1700, P.O. Box 94649 Seattle, WA 98124-4649.
