BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The owners of an apartment complex housing mostly refugees have yet to answer pleas from Boise's mayor that they give tenants more time to move out before renovations.
The Idaho Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/1GlwkjX) Boise Mayor Dave Bieter said Wednesday that he will continue trying to contact Glenbrook Apartments owners Mark E. and Caran Daly, who plan to renovate the complex and up rents by hundreds of dollars.
Verity Property Management notified most tenants that their month-to-month leases would not be renewed.
City spokesman Mike Journee says residents are being connected with service providers.
Nonprofit refugee advocacy group International Rescue Committee of Boise is offering to help tenants find housing, and has also asked Verity to extend its deadlines and speed up the process for getting tenants their security deposits back.
