Addition considered for Tesla building in SLU

  • Smith's On Ballard LLC has filed an early plan that could include new offices and apartments.

    Tesla has a 7,000-square-foot showroom on Westlake Avenue North. The car company hasn’t said whether it plans to remain there, but other companies are eager to take over the space.

    Whether Tesla is closing all or just some of its brick-and-mortar auto showrooms remains unclear. The company announced last month that it would shift entirely to online sales. Then it backpedaled this month. Some locations may become galleries or “information centers,” so the distinction between those and a traditional auto showroom and sales center remains unclear.
