SEATTLE — Last year, nonprofit developer Bellwether Housing paid about $2.4 million for the Boys & Girls Club property in Greenwood, at 8635 Fremont Ave. N. Now there's a 70-unit apartment proposal for the approximately 1.2-acre site.
Encore Architects filed the early plan. Three new buildings, probably with three or four stories, will replace the existing playground on the south end of the corner property.
They'd be separated by courtyards, townhouse-style. Surface parking with 23 stalls is proposed, with access from the alley to the west. Bike rooms are also included.
Bellwether said at the time of purchase that affordable family housing was the plan.
On the north end of the site, at 625 N. 87th St., the community center will remain.
The plan, which hasn't entered design review, lists a nominal value of $22 million.
