Unico boasts new green bona fides

VRM means Fitwel Viral Response Module, which was created in response to the pandemic. Fitwel itself is a healthy building certification standard established by the federal government. Now Unico Properties has announced that it has met VRM certification for 9 million square feet in 30 buildings in six cities. Locally those include 1111 Third, the Viewpoint Building (pictured) and Civica Office Commons in Bellevue. VRM measures include building improved airflow and monitoring, hygiene stations and general planning and policies to “strengthen pandemic response and ensure awareness of protocols, minimizing uncertainty and supporting sustained occupant trust.” Thus, said the Center for Active Design's Joanna Frank in a statement, “By adopting the VRM's evidence-based strategies at scale, Unico Properties is proactively creating healthier, safer spaces for building occupants and employees that mitigate the risk of viral transmission.”
