400 units eyed for South Tacoma

TACOMA — In the South Tacoma neighborhood, directly east of Interstate 5, are about 1.7 acres where a Mor Furniture store had once been planned. Mor's parent company, Wesco Management LLC, bought some vacant land at 1830 S. 48th St. in 2014, then later added to it in a deal with the neighboring Giaudrone Middle School. The vacant land isn't publicly listed.

But, as the Tacoma News Tribune initially reported last week, there's a new 400-unit apartment plan in the works.
