ECS plans 85 units in Columbia City

SEATTLE — The nonprofit Ethiopian Community in Seattle has gradually been building a small portfolio of affordable housing developments, which typically include space for the broader Ethiopian community — not just residents.

ECS is now targeting a corner site in Columbia City, at 5001 Rainier Ave. S., where the nonprofits Jazz Night School and SouthEast Effective Development (SEED) have been contemplating a somewhat similar development. However, since the 2024 land sale (to a related LLC), those two parties haven't yet filed any detailed building plan for what's dubbed Building Harmony.
