The Sound Transit board last week adopted an updated policy it says will promote equitable development near transit stations and facilities.
The policy sets aside surplus Sound Transit property for affordable housing projects. It calls for the agency to offer at least 80 percent of surplus property that is suitable for housing to local governments, housing authorities and nonprofit developers. Sound Transit could sell, give or offer long-term leases for the properties.
