Description
Indoor practice facility to accommodate a variety of sports, including football, track and field, baseball, softball, soccer and golf.

The 100,000-square-foot building will feature a 100-yard football field with a FieldTurf surface and a four-lane, 330-yard running track with the same type of surface used for the Olympics in Sydney. The space will be divisible by a netting system so that several teams can use it at the same time. Two rows of clerestory windows running the length of the field will feature shatter-resistant polycarbonite glazing.

The facility is being built on more than 50 piles, some drilled over 200 feet deep. It features a superstructure of nine steel trusses with 220-foot clearspans and 14-foot center heights. The rest of the building is being made with precast concrete beams and cast-in-place concrete girders. The floor is a precast concrete double-tee system with cast-in-place girders. The roof will be a combination of metal panels (upper portion) and a flat membrane (lower portion). Exterior finishes include 12-inch CMU walls on the lower elevations and an insulated metal panel system on the higher walls.

Part of the project includes wetland mitigation.
