#3. Washington State Patrol -- Light Industrial Development | |
Project address: |
The State Patrol had operated at the same prime retail property on Martin Way in Olympia for over 50 years. Recognizing the value of the land in the current commercial market, the WSP and the Department of General Administration developed a request-for-proposal where the WSP would receive new property (still within Thurston County) and construction of about 70,000 square feet of state-of-the-art facilities in exchange for its Martin Way property. The Martin Way property is currently being developed into a large retail center called Martin Way Station. It features Lowe's, Safeway and other retail tenants. Osborne Construction Co. is the design/build general contractor for both projects. The new WSP facilities located in Tumwater will house the Property Management, Supply and Fleet operations of the Washington State Patrol. The facility's exterior is precast concrete panels with a pre-engineered metal building system on a conventional footing system with slab-on-grade. There is about 20,000 square feet of office space and 50,000 square feet for automotive maintenance, vehicle equipping, wood and metal shops, and other industrial applications. The entire project is being constructed on about 18 acres near the Port of Olympia airport.
