Description
The South Terminal expansion project at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport will update its oldest concourse, with most recent renovations dating to the early 1970s.

The project will double the number of passenger gates from seven to 14, as well as have the capacity to accept larger aircraft types. The concourse will feature a new arrivals hall with a 70-foot-high glass curtain wall facing Mt. Rainier.

Interior features include Northwest native folklore themes, indoor waterways, and views of outdoor landscaping. Restaurants and shops will be added, as well as moving walkways to travel quickly from one gate to another.

In addition, conference space and a public auditorium will be constructed. A five-story office structure will be built for the Port of Seattle administration.

The South Terminal Expansion Project (STEP) is being led by a consortium of the Port of Seattle, Parsons, CH2M Hill and Heery International, construction managers, engineers and inspectors.

Multiple contracts have been completed leading up to the current construction contract. These contracts include a bridge overpass, a major new hangar, various relocation projects, major demolition and abatement, and the B-2 Outbound Baggage Facility.

Remaining contract projects to be released in support of STEP include apron paving and aircraft fueling systems, passenger boarding bridges and furnishings.
