Description
Led by the FAST Corridor Partnership, the South 277th Street improvement project signifies a massive cooperative effort to improve freight mobility in the Puget Sound region.

South 277th Street is being elevated and widened to five lanes between Auburn Way and state Route 167 (0.7 miles). Two new pile-supported bridges are also being constructed over the railroad tracks.

Additional work includes 300,000 cubic yards of gravel borrow, 120,000 square feet of MSE retaining walls, two 72-inch sewer tunnels under the railroad tracks, 2,000 feet of 54-inch sanitary sewer, detention pond construction and roadwork.

Members of the FAST Corridor Partnership include the cities of Kent and Auburn, the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific Railroads, King County, Washington State Department of Transportation, and the Puget Sound Regional Council.
