Description
WSDOT has a comprehensive plan to relieve congestion in the Interstate 5 corridor by creating a continuous High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane from Everett to Tacoma.

Stage 3 of this plan is intended to alleviate the congestion that results on southbound I-5 near Tukwila when the HOV lane ends and I-5 goes from five lanes to four.

Tri-State Construction is building a new HOV lane between milepost 143 and 148, and installing sophisticated traffic information systems.

When completed, the project will improve regional bus service in South King County and complement Sound Transit’s direct access ramp projects.
