The new 615,000-square-foot Seattle United States Courthouse will occupy 2.7 acres in downtown Seattle, and feature three main areas: the courtroom tower, judicial chambers and office bar.

Constructed by Absher, in a joint venture with J.A. Jones, the 390-foot-tall courthouse tower will consist of 23 floors, including 18 courtrooms and 22 judicial chambers. The courtroom tower, designed by NBBJ, features clear glass on three sides and an adjacent office building.

Federal facilities such as the United States Attorney office, District and Bankruptcy courts, U.S. Marshal, Trustee, Probation and Pretrial Services offices, and a law library will also be housed in the building.

Public entrance to the courthouse will be through the three-story lobby, with a 60-foot interior reflecting pool separating secure and non-secure zones. The south side of the building features a one-acre landscaped public plaza, also with reflecting pools. Basement parking will be provided for 120 vehicles on two floors.
