Project address:
Interstate 90 at the East Sunset Way exit, Issaquah

Start of construction: April 9, 2001

Expected completion date:
Fall 2003

Owner:
Washington State Department of Transportation

Description
Congestion problems in the Issaquah area of the I-90 corridor will become acute as new commercial and retail developments take shape, such as the new Microsoft campus and the Town Center retail core.

Currently there is one eastbound and one westbound onramp at East Sunset Way. The new interchange will address increased demand in the coming years.

Kiewit Pacific is constructing four new bridges: one post-tensioned cast-in-place bridge, two structural steel tub bridges, and one precast post-tensioned concrete tub bridge. Mechanically stabilized earth retaining walls and soldier pile walls also feature in the design.

A series of detention and water treatment ponds were constructed to protect Issaquah Creek from construction site runoff.
