Description
The Benton County Justice Center expansion was prompted by a jail population that has more than doubled since 1984.

The four-phased expansion includes a 69,000-square-foot addition to the courts facility, a 109,000-square-foot addition to the jail and sheriff’s offices, and a renovation of the existing 106,000-square-foot complex.

Jail expansion includes a three-story building that will connect the current jail using a skybridge. The first floor will be completed as jail administration, including vehicle sallyport and booking. The second floor will be used for extra jail space, and the third floor will be used for future jail space. Each floor is approximately 32,250 square feet.

Renovation of the existing floor will occur on the first floor jail, sheriff’s offices and sallyport.

The court expansion entails a new 66,000-square-foot building. The two-story facility includes courtrooms, as well as office space and archival storage. Half of the first floor will be completely finished, with the other half used for future courtrooms.
