The total cost to design-build-operate the facility for 25 years is $109 million. M.A. Mortenson Co. is a major partner in the construction phase of the project, with an $11 million structures package. The project includes a new intake structure and pump station, ozone injection and contact facilities, a UV disinfection facility, and two pre-stressed concrete clearwells to store up to 20 million gallons of potable water.
The site is environmentally sensitive and is interlaced with wetlands. Mortenson and CH2M Hill are working with the city of Seattle to design green/sustainable buildings that will minimize impact on the environment.
