The second part of the Rocky Reach fish bypass project involves construction of a 4,600-foot conduit through which juvenile fish, collected in the forebay, will be safely transported around the dam’s turbines to a discharge point downstream.

The Dix Corp. is completing work begun by ASI RCC of Irvine, Calif., to install the bypass conduit and a fish sampling and evaluation facility.

The downstream sampling facility will monitor the species and population of fish, evaluate their condition and provide other scientific data through a 24-hour videotaping system.
