Description
Construction of the new middle school No. 11 is taking place at the site of the old Seward Elementary School and will occupy 124,448 square feet on 15.51 acres. The new two-story steel structure is spacious and will house up to 850 students.

Builders employed a geo-pier system, anchoring 570 piers into fill for the base of the new middle school. The first floor is structural steel with slab-on-grade construction. The second story has concrete poured on pan decking.

The classroom plan will divide the students into sixth, seventh and eighth grade “pods,” with a separate building for each of the three grades.

A two-story common space is also being incorporated into the school so that the pods of students may interact during the school day.

Additional school facilities include a full track, gymnasium, and fields for both soccer and baseball.
