Description
Construction of Hockinson High School gives students of Hockinson School District the first high school of their own.

LSW Architects from Vancouver led the design and facilitated a two-day symposium for the design process with the community, school leaders and students to create the building program and begin the schematic design.

The 135,000-square-foot, two-story school will be built with steel and concrete construction and a two-ply roofing system to hold an initial 850 students.

School planners anticipate growth and the district can increase class space as needed by building an additional classroom wing.

Facilities will feature a progressive vocational technology center, science classrooms, computer labs and general use classrooms.

The gym will seat 1,400 people and features an indoor running track. The multipurpose/community room facility highlights a performance platform, complete with fold out auditorium seating, for plays and musical performances.

The school was designed as a landmark to serve the community as a whole. The public will have library access outside of school hours, including a spectacular view of Mt. Saint Helens from inside the library.
