Description

Pullman Memorial Hospital is constructing a 26-bed acute care replacement hospital and a medical office building.

The hospital includes eight labor, delivery, recovery and postnatal (LDRP) beds, 16 medical surgical beds and two intensive care unit beds. The emergency department contains three acute care/trauma rooms, five fast-track specialty exam rooms, emergency medical services areas, triage and support services.

Surgical services includes 12 private same-day-services rooms, one endoscopy suite, one procedure room, three large surgery suites, a four-bed post-anesthesia care unit, central sterilizing and support services. The diagnostic imaging department includes diagnostic radiology, fluoroscopy, computerized tomography, ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine and magnetic resonance imaging. Cardiopulmonary services include two sleep study labs and a dedicated room for pulmonary testing.

The design of the patient bed wings allows for efficient use of staff and flexibility of the room functions. All patient rooms are single bedrooms designed for patient privacy with room for extended families.

All patient care services will be offered on one level with only a few support services being offered on an upper level. The facility is planned with clear circulation systems separating the public and outpatients from back house service corridors. Roof and ceiling levels change, forming clear destination zones for easier circulation.

Dietary services include a kitchen, a large open servery, a dining hall and an exterior patio — all located close to the main entry and focused on large window walls. Multiple community education conference rooms are located next to the dietary. The conference rooms and dietary area open to a shared foyer with large window walls. The facility will contain a rooftop helipad, enclosed mechanical penthouses and complete site improvements.

Included in the project is a medical office building located on a second floor above the hospital general services departments. Hospital administration, medical records and six private specialty physician groups will occupy this facility. Public and staff will enter the medical office building at a second floor entry level on the sloping site. A back stair will allow staff and physicians direct access to the hospital first floor service passageways, which lead to all hospital departments.
