Description
The new 170,000-square-foot Ellensburg High School features construction of 54 teaching stations, while preserving the present library and Building 10 classrooms.
A pitched roof will be constructed over the commons and gymnasium to disguise the tiered design of the school. The roof will rise up from the main entrance on Capital Avenue. The tiered layout was inspired by the terrain, which slopes naturally.
The school was designed with a linear profile as a way to meet design objectives for efficient use of space, energy requirements and consideration for better security and safety within the building.
Additionally, the layout of the new school includes field space for the future development of sports fields.
