Over 700 new cells are being added on 103 acres adjacent to the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla.

Project description:

The Washington State Penitentiary North Close Custody Facility expansion, phase 1, is a 326,000-square-foot design-build, fast-track, lump-sum project. It is being built on 103 acres adjacent to the existing penitentiary. The project consists of four new housing units containing 528 close-custody cells and 198 intensive management unit cells with related site development, support buildings and utilities. The support buildings include: an administration building; visitation building; multipurpose core building including food service, wellness and education; and a motor pool and automotive vocational training building.
