An expansion to Skagit Valley Hospital will include a curved façade with glass panels.

Project description:

The Skagit Valley Hospital expansion project consists of a three-story building plus full basement totaling 220,000 square feet. Part of the building will be shelled for future expansion.

The new facility will provide: a larger emergency/trauma unit; a state-of-the-art surgical services department with six operating rooms; an expanded critical care unit with universal rooms that are flexible to the needs of acutely ill patients; a larger birth center with improved amenities for families; and private patient rooms.

The structure will be reinforced concrete with the north façade as a curved, glazed wall. Interior decoration and wayfinding will reflect the several ecosystems of the Skagit Valley area.

A two-story energy plant will be constructed and a total of 540 parking spaces will be provided for the facility, which will extend across Montgomery Street and into the existing hospital parking lot, between 13th and 15th streets.
