Cloverdale Recreation Centre has cloud-like ceilings that serve as focal points inside the building.

The Cloverdale Recreation Centre is the city’s new 66,000-square-foot multipurpose recreation center. It contains three full-size gymnasiums, a large fitness/weight room, and a variety of multipurpose rooms that provide space for preschoolers, seniors and youths.

The complex project required installation of overlapping ceiling elevations with no square edges, which was accomplished with a curved and barreled wall system.

Judge’s comment: “The lobby’s cloud ceiling provides the focal point for the interior of this modern building. Because of the function of the building, the ceilings were a major design feature.”
