The University of Washington’s Paccar Hall at the Foster School of Business underwent a transformation accomplished by Forrest Sound Products installing 9-Wood’s Douglas fir linear wood wall and ceiling panels throughout the space. The interior wood is finished with 9-Wood’s clear pre-catalyzed lacquer finish with a Class A fire treatment. Although wood was a primary theme for walls and ceilings, custom acoustical panels provided by Wall Technology and 2-foot-wide plank ceilings provided by Armstrong Ceilings were integral to achieving the overall look that LMN was striving for. Forrest Sound Products also made custom materials to complete the package, including the medium-density fiberboard panels found in the auditorium ceiling. The installation provides acoustical absorption and diffusion so that instructors’ words carry evenly throughout the space. Judge’s comment: “A comfortable and pleasing interior space has been created by the wood ceilings. The independent ceilings required difficult layout and construction.”
