The 507,000-square-foot Mirabella South Waterfront includes a 30-story residential tower and an attached six-story podium with rooftop garden and courtyard for residents. Mirabella has 224 independent-living apartments, 16 assisted-care apartments, and 20 private suites for those needing skilled nursing and rehabilitation. The 24th floor includes a large viewing deck plus the Aria Penthouse Restaurant. The numerous amenities at Mirabella required many different interior finishes. The most challenging was applying a Level 5 finish to the exposed concrete ceilings in each unit — a unique approach that required a high level of craftsmanship. The ceilings in the 24th floor restaurant created their own set of challenges with the combination of a “drywall cloud” interfacing with acoustical tile and a stretched fabric ceiling. The main lobby and pool area feature veneer plaster walls plus a wood and fabric ceiling. Judge’s comment: “The interior of this luxury residential tower incorporates a large number of different spaces, many with special design and detail requirements, which meant a variety of wall and ceiling types of construction. The finished work was outstanding, providing those who will occupy the building with wonderful surroundings.”
