Northeast 90th Street Improvement and River Walk Habitat Restoration
Location: Northeast 90th Street, Redmond
Owner/Developer: City of Redmond
General contractor: Guy F. Atkinson Construction
Engineer: Entranco

The Northeast 90th Street bridge features arches that lean out of the vertical plane.

This project included construction of a high-strength concrete bridge spanning the Sammamish River, connecting streets on both sides and reconstruction of a section of the river, changing the existing straight dredged channel into a meandering stream.

The bridge is a three-span box girder supported on arches tilted sideways with no visible supports under the bridge between spans and a single continuous camber between abutments.

Atkinson Construction — teamed with subcontractors, Redmond’s Public Works Department, designers and utilities — used both technical and management best practices to produce the project two months ahead of schedule and under budget.
