Bellevue Transit Center glows at night, thanks to its numerous skylights.

This project involved demolishing the old facility and building the new facility while the transit center remained open, with about 100 buses an hour passing through on weekdays.

A number of challenges were encountered: unforeseen conditions during utility relocation, limited staging and laydown area within one street lane while the other lane remained open to bus service and pedestrians, and extensive preplanning to make sure the project’s 250 glu-lam beams fit properly.
