Turner used a special lift to reach the 65-foot ceiling of Suzzallo Library’s Graduate Reading Room for plaster repair and cleaning. The lift had to be rigged through a third-floor window and transported through the library to the reading room.

This project included seismic upgrade of four buildings, major mechanical and electrical renovation for 1925- and 1935-vintage buildings, renovation of elevators, cleaning and sealing the exterior envelope, and adding fire protection and new systems.

The library had to stay open throughout the renovation and high noise work had to be scheduled during off hours. Innovative techniques and planning insured protection of historic elements.
