The exterior of Associated Petroleum Products’ headquarters was remodeled for a retro look.

John Korsmo Construction helped its client prepare for growth by remodeling more than 15,000 square feet of office space and upgrading electrical, mechanical and roof systems. The project team met a fast-track schedule while operations at Associated Petroleum Products — a fuels, propane and lubricants supplier — kept humming.

The project included a complete modernization and interior renovation of the office space at the client’s headquarters at the Port of Tacoma. Polygal wall panels were used to create an industrial look inside. Tilt-up walls were upgraded to meet seismic code, and the exterior was remodeled into a retro style.

The renovation included the conversion of a fuel- and lubricants-storage warehouse into office space. The team cleaned up oil residues and developed a catch basin system to ensure there was no runoff into the stormwater system. Korsmo’s partners developed a protective barrier system to prevent spills and isolate the construction from the ongoing fuel and lubricant activities.

Korsmo implemented value engineering strategies that netted significant construction savings, of which $10,000 was donated to the Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital Foundation.
