Mountain Construction restored a former Coca-Cola bottling plant to house office, retail and warehouse space, and this auto museum.

Bringing Tacoma’s old 1950’s Coca-Cola building back to life was a challenge for Mountain Construction. Mountain was selected by Griot’s Garage as the design-build contractor to demolish and restore the facility to make space for Class A offices, high-end retail, an auto museum, retro-style employee cafe and warehouse.

The design-build team used a “roundtable design” method in which the entire team worked out the design together, steadily working toward the best value.

To meet the owner’s schedule, Mountain fast-tracked the design and permitting by meeting with the city of Tacoma during design development and providing the information in packages that worked for their review process.

“The quality of work and commitment by the entire crew paid huge dividends,” wrote the owner in a letter to Mountain.

“Just one walk through the new Griot’s Garage corporate center and flagship retail store and you’ll see the level of detail that went into making the building one of Tacoma’s landmark sites.”
