Photo courtesy of Abbott Construction Abbott Construction met the originally planned completion date for this Everett medical-dental clinic even though the site was changed during construction design.

The project involved replacing two single-story buildings with a two-story, 19,000-square-foot building housing nine dental “operatories,” 18 medical exam rooms and two procedure rooms. Abbott Construction delivered it on schedule and under budget using a design-build delivery method.

During construction design, the owners determined they had to relocate the building to the other end of the site, requiring a total redesign. Abbott managed this process and met the original completion date.

The schedule was divided into four phases to allow continual operation of one of the existing on-site clinics, along with a temporary pharmacy that Abbott provided by adapting a modular portable building that remained in place throughout the building process.

Though not slated for LEED, the Abbott-led team delivered a project expected to meet LEED silver standards at no additional cost to the owner.
